In the midst of my series of pinup girl art I decided to revisit a sketch of Mustard Man and render him in the same style.
The tropes of sci-fi, pop culture, the fascination with and the projection of a postapocalypse or “cyberpunk” future are colliding in unlikely ways in the styling of these not so classic pinup girls.
A sculpture made of marble patterned contact paper, copying a Hellenistic period sculpture that is stored in the Met and actually made of marble. The layers of inferences and visual pun are many varied. The intention was to bring up what is similar about our current point in history to the time when societies fringes first started being depicted.

A life-size corpse made of candy. An original ephemeral installation sculpture. Over the course of the exhibition the Candy Corpse grew mold and melted into the chocolatey soil around it.
In the Point of Recapitulation, souls are recycled. This is an experimental minicomic that only scratches the surface of the afterlife myth of the Mustard Man saga.

The Morgu Bird is a character from the Mustard Man mythology. The final form of the Mustard Vampire and the custodian of the Point of Recapitulation. This is a painted wheatpaste used as a public advertisement for the Coyle Cavern gallery in Staten Island 2012.
Books shot with a rifle. Emblematic of the demise of one of the oldest forms of technology, and with the removal of its functional necessity by the dawning of a new era. As the way media is contained, possessed and valued changes, information and ideologies can be discarded.
